WACS EXAMINATIONS

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2009 - DIPLOMA EXAMINATIONS

This is to announce that the next Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA) and Diploma in Ophthalmology (DO) Examinations of the West African College of Surgeons will take place as follows:


DATE:

12th - 22nd October, 2009 - Diploma in Anaesthesia (Venue – UCH, Ibadan, Nigeria and UGMS, Accra, Ghana)

19th - 22nd September, 2009 - Diploma in Ophthalmology (Venue – UGMS, Accra, Ghana)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates applying to sit for the Diploma in Anaesthesia Examination must have completed at least one year post-registration experience in Anaesthesia in an accredited General or Teaching Hospital. For the Diploma in Ophthalmology (Resit) Examinations, candidates must have completed the prescribed 18 month training.

EXAMINATION FEE - N20,000.00 ($150.00)

All payments should be made at any FIRST BANK NIGERIA Plc Branch with ONLINE facilities in Nigeria into Account No. 3162010038711 in the name of “WEST AFRICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS”.

Candidates must indicate their names in the Teller Column ‘Paid By’. Candidates should write their Faculty and Part of the Examination on the duplicate teller and submit a copy of this teller with their Examination Application Form to the College Secretariat.

APPLICATION
Application forms are obtainable from the College at the West African College of Surgeons, 6 Taylor Drive, P. M. B. 1067, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria or at the WAPMC Accra Office, Near Library, University Ghana Medical School, Accra, and West African Health Community Liaison Offices at the Ministries of Health in Monrovia, Liberia, Freetown, Sierra Leone, and Banjul, The Gambia.

Completed application forms should be returned accompanied by one large (9” x 6”) and 3 self-addressed stamped envelopes. Application must be submitted with APPROVED LOG BOOK/PORTFOLIO and copies of appropriate supporting documents.

CLOSING DATE 30th June, 2009. Candidates currently on the Diploma in Ophthalmology programme need not apply.

PENALTY FOR THE LATE SUBMISSION IS N10,000 FOR ONE WEEK AND N20,000 THEREAFTER FOR ANOTHER 2 WEEKS.
