EXAMINATIONS
The Faculty of Otorhinolaryngology, West
African College of Surgeons announces a Postgraduate Diploma
Course in Otolaryngology leading to the award of a Diploma
Certificate of the College.
This is an 18-month course consisting of:
- Block I: Basic Science and foundations of Clinical Otolaryngology
3 Months
- Block II: Clinical Otolaryngology and E.N.T. Emergencies
9 Months
- Block III: Community E.N.T. and Prevention of Deafness
1 Month
- Block IV: Clinical Otorhinolaryngology 5 Months
The Block I would commence at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital,
Kumasi, Ghana after which trainees would be posted to various
accredited centres within the subregion for clinical training.
After successful completion of the course, the Diplomate is
expected to satisfactorily complete a six-month compulsory
INTERNSHIP before the award of the Certificate.
Commencement:
The 2009/2010 Course shall commence with the Block I Programme
at the Department of E. N. T., Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital,
Kumasi, Ghana in 1st July 2009 Prerequisite: The course is
open only to medically qualified persons who are fully registered
to practice in member countries of the West African College
of Surgeons, and who shall:
- have been in practice for at least two years after full registration,
and
- be sponsored by governments, health institutions, or non-governmental
organisations.
Course Fees:
The course fee is US$5,000.00 payable to the “West African College of Surgeons”.
This is exclusive of travelling expenses, board and lodging, and books. An estimate
of the total cost can be obtained from the College.
Method of Application:
Interested doctors should submit
- Letter of Application.
- Photocopies of relevant certificates,
- Letters of recommendation from two referees, and
- Letter of sponsorship or intention to sponsor
with an application fee of US$50.00 (or local equivalent) to:

The curriculum is available from the above address at US$10.00 (or local equivalent)
a copy.
